예체능 유학

■ 예체능 유학 최근 경향 ■

최근에 나타나는 예능계 지망자들의 추세는 전공이 다양화 되고 있다는 점이다. 예전에 예능계는 음악연주, 회화, 그래픽, 일러스트레에션 등 전통적인 분야가 강세였으나 최근에는 특수분장, 이벤트 관리학, 세라믹, 무대 디자인, 디스플레이 등 첨단 분야를 지원하는 학생들이 많아지고 있다.
이런 전문분야를 공부하는 유학생들이 가장 몰리는 곳은 예술의 본고장 이라는 뉴욕이다. 특히 최근 뉴욕에서는 컴퓨터 그래픽, 영화, 디자인, 음향학 등 특수분야를 전공하는 한국 학생들이 눈에 띄게 늘고 있다.

이들이 재학하는 대표적인 학교인 파슨즈 예술대학, 줄리어드 스쿨, 맨하튼 음대 등에는 한국 유학생들이 2-3백명에 달하고 있으며 이외에 패션 디자인, 보석가공, 염색학 등 실용학문을 가르치는 F.I.T(Fashion Institute of Technology) 와 첨단 미술 기법에 치중된 비주얼 아트(School of Visual Art)등에도 한국 학생이 쇄도하고 있다.

한국 유학생 중 예체능계를 지원하는 학생들이 많은 것은 현지에서도 피부로 느낄 수 있는 현상이다. 뉴욕만 해도 줄리어드등 유명 음대가 운영하는 프리스쿨(대학전 예비학교 과정)에 한국학생들이 2-3백명씩이나 몰려있고 이들을 후원하는 학부모들이 강력한 파워를 발휘하고 있다.
또 미술로 유명한 파슨즈 예술대학이나 패션의 명문 F.I.T 등에서도 5-6명씩 짝을 지어 다니는 한국학생들을 보는 것은 흔한 일이 되었다.
