DESCRIPTION:
1. The 6,10 & 12-week Academic Intensive
English program prepares students for American
colleges and universities as well as students who
need to improve their general English ability for
personal or professional reasons. Speaking,
listening, reading and writing skills are taught
at 7 levels of proficiency.
2. The 4-week Practical English program is for
students who use English for professional or
personal reasons. Speaking and listening are
taught at 3 levels (beginning, intermediate,
advanced).

HOUSING OPTIONS:
UCLA dormitory accommodations are available during
the summer quarter only. During the rest of the
year, homestays, apartment and hotel referrals are
available.

UCLA Dormitories (Summer only; includes meals):
4-weeks $995; 6-weeks $1325; 12-weeks $2650
Homestay: 4-weeks $745 and up
Apartments: 4-weeks $664 and up
LOCATION:
During fall, winter, and spring terms, classes are
held at the downtown World Trade Center, the heart
of L.A.'s business and cultural center. Summer
courses are held on the UCLA campus, 15 minutes by
car from famous beaches, Beverly Hills and
Hollywood.

fax number listed above. There is a $150
non-refundable application fee. Summer courses
require full pre-payment.
EDUCATIONAL SERVICES/OPPORTUNITIES:
ALC provides individual academic counseling to
assist students with finding and applying to
colleges and universities. Students with advanced
English may also enroll in one of 80 specialized
certificate programs at UCLA Extension.
STUDENT SERVICES:
Academic counseling, visa/immigration counseling,
housing referrals, airport arrival assistance, and
information about optional excursions to local
tourist attractions.
TRANSPORTATION:
Distances are great, so students staying for
longer than 1 month often buy a car or rent cars
for weekend excursions. Bus transportation can
often be slow and inconvenient.
OTHER PROGRAMS
