  DESCRIPTION:

ESL: Seven levels of ESL, specially developed to improve both written and oral expression, are offered. Books and other materials are carefully chosen to provide an integrated approach covering grammar, vocabulary and idioms, reading, listening, writing, pronunciation, and speaking. Aspects of American culture are also introduced to help students understand and adapt to American life. SOS College Preparation Course: This course provides intensive preparation in specific skills needed for academic success at a college or university level. Test Preparation: Students receive special instruction for TOEFL, GMAT, and GRE in highly structured courses designed to prepare students to maximize their test potential on the most recent computer adaptive tests.

 LOCATION:

Language Systems is located in a quiet and tranquil section of Alhambra. Alhambra is only ten minutes from Downtown L.A., Dodgers stadium, and only an additional ten minutes from the world-renowned Hollywood Blvd. - entertainment capital of the world. There are several good colleges (e.g. Pasadena City College, Citrus College, Glendale Community College) and universities (California State University, Los Angeles, Azusa Pacific University, Fuller Seminary, California Institute of Technology, College of Arts and Design) in the area which many of our students attend after completing their course of study at our language center. We are also located close to ETS (Educational Testing Center which provides weekly institutional TOEFL exams (accepted by many colleges and universities in the area) for students who do not want to wait to take the International TOEFL test.

 EDUCATIONAL SERVICES/OPPORTUNITIES:

An on campus Foreign Student Advisor(FSA) is available for assisting in academic counseling, college placement, and other necessary matters. All LSI students, whether in TOEFL preparation class or ESL class, may sign up to take the Institutional TOEFL TEST offered at the Alhambra campus.

 STUDENT SERVICES:

Homestay placement, field trips, guest speakers, health insurance information, campus facilities, conversation partners, legal advice, after school activities

 TRANSPORTATION:

Language Systems is easily accessible to major bus routes. Students often ride their bikes to school. Transportation may be provided by the homestay family for an additional fee.
