  DESCRIPTION:

IELI is a comprehensive, 4-level (elementary through advanced) program which offers academic credit (undergraduate) for language study. It is housed in the College of Humanities at USU. Students who successfully complete the program meet the English prerequisite for admission to both graduate and undergraduate study at Utah State University without the TOEFL. Students have a choice of university residence halls, apartments, dormitories; off-campus apartments and houses.

 HOUSING COSTS:

 LOCATION:

The Intensive English Language Institute (IELI) is an academic program on the campus of Utah State University (USU) in Logan, Utah. Logan is located in a scenic mountain valley 90 miles north of Salt lake City, the state capital. With a very low crime rate, Logan is considered a safe and peaceful place to study. The university has approximately 17,000 students; about 5% are international students.

 APPLICATION INFORMATION:

Students planning to study English first and later enroll in USU graduate or undergraduate programs are encouraged to submit applications directly to the Undergraduate Admissions Office www.usu.edu/~registra/admrec/main.html or the School of Graduate Studies www.usu.edu/~gradsch/home.html . Students intending to study English only, or who are uncertain if they will pursue a degree at USU, should apply directly to the Intensive English Language Institute.  EDUCATIONAL SERVICES/OPPORTUNITIES:

Academically qualified students need not submit TOEFL scores. Once they are accepted for graduate or undergraduate study, they may take university classes after they successfully complete the intensive English program.

 TRANSPORTATION:

Transportation between Salt Lake International Airport and the USU campus is available through Cache Valley Limousine Service. Reservations are recommended and may be made by calling (435) 563-6400 from outside the United States or 1-800-658-8526 (toll free) from within the United States.
