  DESCRIPTION:

The Intensive English Program offers a 6-level core curriculum plus 2 levels of university preparation. IEP courses also include test-taking skills and TOEFL preparation, as well as an introduction to American culture and university life. Students are in classes 4 hours per day and work in the electronic language laboratory several hours per week.

16 on-campus residence halls, 1 off-campus residence hall, off-campus apartments

 HOUSING COSTS:

Residence halls are aprox $2000 per semester including meals. Apartments near campus are somewhat less expensive.

 LOCATION:

Texas Tech campus, one of the largest campuses in the USA, is located in Lubbock, a city of 180,000, and a l-hour flight from Dallas. Climate is dry and pleasant with over 3550 hours of sunshine annually.

 EDUCATIONAL SERVICES/OPPORTUNITIES:

Intensive English classes include opportunities for students to audit academic university classes. Cultural activities/field trips provide exposure to American culture. IEP students have university library privileges.

 STUDENT SERVICES:

All students are assigned to an IEP faculty advisor. The University Center, with a game room, theater, shops, dining facilities, etc., is open to all students. TTU has a student health clinic and a recreation center that are available to IEP students for an additional fee.

 TRANSPORTATION:

Lubbock is served by several major airlines. A public bus system serves the city and the TTU campus. Airport pickup for new IEP students can be arranged with advance notice.
