A rigorous program, stressing language skills and
preparation for university study; high beginning
(TOEFL scores of 300 and above) to advanced (TOEFL
scores of 500-600); courses in listening/speaking,
reading/writing, grammar, cross-cultural
communication, and TOEFL skills

LOCATION:
San Francisco is known as "America's Favorite
City." It is world-famous for its great beauty,
its cosmopolitan, international atmosphere, and
its nearness to all the major tourist attractions
of California.
APPLICATION INFORMATION:
Contact ALI at address shown. There is no application deadline. However, our program sometimes is fills
up 2 or 3 months before the beginning of each
semester, so applicants are urged to apply well in advance.
EDUCATIONAL SERVICES/OPPORTUNITIES:
San Francisco State University provides graduate
and undergraduate programs in almost all fields to
nearly 30,000 students. ALI offers conditional
admission to SFSU for qualified students, and
substantial admissions assistance in applying to
other colleges and universities. ALI students can
use all university facilities. Special assistance
is available for blind students.
STUDENT SERVICES:
ALI provides: 1) a full range of academic and
personal counseling, including assistance with
college admissions and immigration problems; 2) an
American Conversation Partner Program; 3)
institutional administrations of TOEFL twice each
semester; 4) social and cultural activities.
TRANSPORTATION:
Public transportation is inexpensive and widely
available everywhere in San Francisco.
