  DESCRIPTION:

PLI, a division of The Language Company, is designed to prepare students to enter American universities. Students study English 30 hours per week including Reading Comprehension, Listening Comprehension, Speaking/Pronunciation, Grammar Usage, Academic Writing, and an elective. Computer labs are available. The PLI offers 13 four-week sessions per year, with applications accepted every month.

 LOCATION:

Widener University is about fifteen minutes south of Philadelphia International Airport, in Chester, Pennsylvania. Dorm rooms are on the campus at Widener; homestays are with families within about twenty minutes of the university.

 APPLICATION INFORMATION:

Sessions begin every four weeks, late arrivals accepted. Applications are sent upon request and express mailed within 24 hours.

 EDUCATIONAL SERVICES/OPPORTUNITIES:

Conditional Admissions: Undergraduate students accepted by Widener who achieve a TOEFL score of 470 may enter Widener after completing an additional twelve weeks of successful study in the PLI. Graduate students applying to Graduate Engineering majors may be allowed to complete PLI`s Level 9 in lieu of a TOEFL score. Please contact PLI or Widener for other conditional admissions arrangenents at the graduate level.

 STUDENT SERVICES:

PLI students may participate in all recreational/cultural activities that the university students enjoy. All facilities at the university are open to PLI students. Airport pickup is arranged (and strongly recommeded) for new PLI students.

 TRANSPORTATION:

Airport pickup from Philadelphia International Airport is recommended.
