  DESCRIPTION:

The ISALC offers an academic program that prepares non-native speakers of English to successfully undertake a regular course of study in U.S. post-secondary academic settings. The curriculum is designed to assist students in the development of essential language skills, appropriate learning strategies, and cross-cultural awareness and sensitivities considered necessary for successful participation in U.S. educational communities.

Lewis and Clark College is located about 5 miles south of Portland's city center, on a wooded campus. The Pacific Ocean to the west and the Cascade Mountains to the east are only a short distance away.

 EDUCATIONAL SERVICES/OPPORTUNITIES:

Lewis and Clark offers a varied, year-round program of recreational, cultural and academic activities to the student body. ISALC students may take part in any of these, as well as regularly scheduled field trips and an annual International Fair held in February.

 STUDENT SERVICES:

ISALC students have full access to all student services, including an international student office, friendship families, conversation groups, speaker's bureau, college outdoors, student government, college newspaper, music programs, lectures, dances, concerts, sports and health clinic.

 TRANSPORTATION:

Airport or hotel pickup available, free of charge, to all entering students. Local buses also service the campus.

 OTHER PROGRAMS

DESCRIPTION:

Business English, Computer Applications and TESL group programs have been offered. A 12-week and a 6-week session in the summer.
