 LOCATION:

ALA is located on the campus of the University of Portland, a private institution with over 2,500 students. The 92-acre campus has a beautiful park-like setting overlooking the Willamette River with a view of downtown Portland, which is only 25 minutes away by bus.

 APPLICATION INFORMATION:

Sessions begin every 8 weeks. (Mid-term entry is available for non-beginner students.) Applications are accepted year-round. Students must send a completed application, $110 application fee, $100 space reservation deposit, and a letter of financial support to the Executive Offices.

 EDUCATIONAL SERVICES/OPPORTUNITIES:

For undergraduate students, the University of Portland accepts 525 on the Institutional TOEFL administered by ALA for English proficiency. All students may use university recreational and library facilities.

 STUDENT SERVICES:

housing placement service, assistance with university placement, cultural orientation; recreational activities and field trips including trips to the Oregon Coast, Mount Hood, and the National Scenic Area of the Columbia Gorge

 TRANSPORTATION:

Portland has one of the best transportation systems in the U.S. so travel anywhere in the city is very easy. Personal ALA pick-up is available at Portland International Airport, as are taxi service and an airport shuttle bus.
