DESCRIPTION:
NEI is a division of The Language Company. Intensive English programs begin every four weeks and offer five instructional hours plus one optional study hour daily.
The intensive program features instruction in verbal skills, grammar, reading and academic writing. Electives offered are TOEFL preparation, American Culture Today,
vocabulary, conversation and computer skills. Optional study hours allow students easy access to teachers for private tutorials, the computer lab or library.
University preparation courses are available. NEI offers University placement services to students at no charge. ESP courses in business, computer and petroleum
available. Community Experience and Internship programs available. Study Vacation programs available for students 12-18 years of age.
ESTIMATED COSTS:
25 instructional hours plus one optional study hour. NEI will offer
14 sessions in 1999, session 1-3 and 6-14 are 4-week sessions.

HOUSING OPTIONS:
American host families are the most popular choice.
Families provide all meals and transportation.
Students have private rooms with families.
Apartments are also available within walking distance.
HOUSING COSTS:
Homestays are $425 per session including all meals.
Apartments average $350-$500 per month. Hotels average
$45-$60 per night.
LOCATION:
Norman is a small city located in the heart of Oklahoma,
a safe and secure environment. Norman is located twenty
miles south of Oklahoma City, the capital of the state, and 2 hours north of Dallas, Texas.
The state is rich in Western and Native American culture.
Weather is moderate, cost of living is low and the people
are very welcoming.
APPLICATION INFORMATION:
Sessions begin every four weeks. Applications are accepted
year round and late enrollments are also available.
Application fee, financial support documentation and
completed application form are necessary for processing admission.
EDUCATIONAL SERVICES/OPPORTUNITIES:
All classes are conducted in an international environment. University placement service and counseling are available
at no charge to students. Conditional acceptances and I-20's
are obtained prior to arrival. Community Experience and
Internship programs allow students to obtain experience in
a "real world" English environment. NEI offers a monthly
instructional TOEFL exam, computer lab, library and private
instruction as well.
STUDENT SERVICES:
Airport pickup service is available to all students.
Western heritage and Native American cultural events
are held year round. Academic counseling is available
as well as free access to library and computer labs.
NEI is located a five minute walk from the University
of Oklahoma where students can find access to many
programs and events.
TRANSPORTATION:
Host families provide transportation to and from school
and all sponsored activities. Apartments are within walking
distance. The city bus service runs regularly and to most
points in Norman.
OTHER PROGRAMS
DESCRIPTION:
Programs in Macro Intensive English offer private
instruction to business clients. Other ESP courses
in business, petroleum or computer are also available.
Community Experience and Internship programs offer a
variety of options to students. Study vacation is an
option for young people to combine English instruction
with cultural activities.
