DESCRIPTION:
ACCESS is a year-round, 4-level intensive program taught in 7-week sessions beginning in September, October, January, March, May, and July. The program offers academic preparation with a special focus on American culture together with structured opportunities to interact with Americans. ACCESS classroom and language laboratory facilities feature state-of-the-art technology for teaching and learning English. Small classes are taught by experienced ESL professionals.

HOUSING OPTIONS:
All single students will live in one of the seven University residence halls. Except in the summer terms, students can live with American roommates. Married students and other students with special needs will find moderately-priced off-campus housing available

LOCATION:
Ashland University is located in a residential area of Ashland, Ohio, a quiet, safe city of 20,00 known for its parks with public sports facilities, its friendly people and its easy access to beautiful scenic areas. Ashland is about one hour (100 KM) by car from Ohio's two largest cities, Cleveland to the northeast and Columbus to the southwest.
APPLICATION INFORMATION:
Applications are accepted year-round and must be accompanied by a $25 application fee. Necessary for application: application form, financial records, and school records. Applications can be requested from address, fax or e-mail listed above.
EDUCATIONAL SERVICES/OPPORTUNITIES:
Students in the advanced level can, on the recommendation of the Director, attend one or two University classes. They can receive academic credit for those courses if they later enroll as full-time students at Ashland University.
Conditional admission for both graduate and undergraduate study at Ashland University is also available (Contact International Student Services at the address above). Students accepted for conditional admission are guaranteed that, on successful completion of the ACCESS program, they can begin their studies in the academic fields to which they have been admitted at Ashland University. Students planning to continue academic study at Ashland University after finishing ACCESS will be carefully advised and assisted in making as smooth a transition to university study as possible.
STUDENT SERVICES:
ACCESS offers a field trip or special event each week of the term. Students can see professional sports, visit museums and amusement parks, attend cultural events, or participate in such activities as horseback riding, canoeing, and winter skiing. Students can use all campus facilities and participate in all campus events and clubs. The International Friendship Program, where students meet local families for occasional activities, is also offered.
TRANSPORTATION:
Airport pick-up from Cleveland Hopkins International Airport is available to arriving students.
