DESCRIPTION:
The Intensive English Program provides full-time intensive English language instruction as well as academic, social, and cultural orientation to the United States and its institutions. The aim of the program is for you to improve your language skills in order to achieve your goal, whether it is to study English for academic, business, professional, or personal reasons. There are three programs each year.
Spring semester: mid January to early May (14 weeks) Summer session: late June to early August (6 weeks) Fall semester: late August to early December (14 weeks)

LOCATION:
The IEP is part of Cornell University, and students participate in campus life and activities. The university is located in Ithaca, New York, a small, pleasant, and surprisingly cosmopolitan city of 29,000 in the heart of the New State's Finger Lakes region. This is an area of great natural beauty. The university and community also offer cultural activities usually available only in much larger cities. Ithaca combines small-town convenience and security with large-city atmosphere.

EDUCATIONAL SERVICES/OPPORTUNITIES:
Cornell University offers many educational, cultural, and recreational services to its students. IEP students can take part in most of these services.
STUDENT SERVICES:
Orientation and cross-cultural training. Assistance with housing and immigration matters. Personal counseling on university applications, test preparation, and admissions strategies. Conversation partners possible. TOEFL preparation is an optional part of the curriculum. State-of-the-art language learning laboratory. Computer-writing workshops.
TRANSPORTATION:
Eight dollars and 5 minutes get students from
Tompkins County Airport via airline limo service.
Bus from New York City is about $50 and takes 5
hours.
OTHER PROGRAMS
DESCRIPTION:
Administration of the Institution TOEFL and TOEIC at least once each session. Concurrent enrollment in university courses (with or without credit) available to advanced-level students.
