DESCRIPTION:
ALCI offers year-round instruction in nine proficiency levels from beginning to advanced. Students study English 20-25 hours per week. Class size is small; the average student to teacher ratio is 15:1. Courses focus on the 4 main language skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Students may choose an elective such TOEFL preparation or American Culture Through Film.

APPLICATION INFORMATION:
Applications are accepted year-round. Apply approximately 6 weeks in advance of the term you plan to attend. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, graduated from high school. A $100 non-refundable application is required.
EDUCATIONAL SERVICES/OPPORTUNITIES:
Eligible ALCI students may concurrently enroll in regular credit classes without formal admission to the university.
STUDENT SERVICES:
ALCI provides Chico Municipal Airport pick-up service at no extra charge. A comprehensive orientation is given to the ALCI program, the campus, and the community. Social and cultural activities are offered year-round. The full range of counseling and advising services is provided.
TRANSPORTATION:
Bus service is free to ALCI students (except in summer). Most students live near campus and downtown so a car is not needed. Chico has been rated as the #1 Bicycling City in the U.S.A.
